Hosta Choice Gardens Inc. Hosta Choice Gardens was founded in 1998, and Margot and Udo had an amazing time building their business.  Over the years, they fell in love with the Hosta Community and made many wonderful friends along the way.   In light of the recent passing of Udo and Margot Dargatz, we have decided that it is time to sell the Hosta Choice Gardens business and the property that served as the base for Hosta Choice.  The nursery is located in south-western Ontario, approximately 1/2 hour west of London. The growing Hosta business attracts customers from throughout North America.  Our mail order business ships Hostas to customers across the country, and as word of our nursery continues to spread, we are often amazed at the distances people travel to visit us. We have a beautiful Hosta garden that showcases the over 800 different varieties of Hosta that we carry.  There are several greenhouses on the property that are used for propagating stock and delving into hosta studies. More about the property The entire property covers more than 50 acres, and includes a 3-bedroom brick and cedar home (with 5 appliances, granite countertops, hardwood flooring, 14-foot vaulted ceilings, sunroom, and fully finished basement), 5 poly / hoop greenhouses, extensive hosta display gardens, wooded areas, two ponds, and crop fields that are currently leased to a neighbouring farmer.  The property includes a large generator, vintage tractor, golf cart, riding lawn mower, gasoline tank, and a deep well that would enable the owners to live off-grid if desired.
