Canada's largest Hosta Display Garden !!
|
We are looking forward to your visit in 2012! We are Canada's largest Hosta Display Garden.
At our nursery, we like to make choosing hostas easy for you. Once you park your car in our large parking area we invite you to grab a coffee and clipboard and then casually walk thru the display gardens. In 2012 we will have over 1700 hosta varieties on display- from mature specimens to some of the newest introductions. The main purpose of the display gardens is so you can see for yourself what size, shape and colour your hosta choices will become in a garden setting. Very often young hostas will change appearance dramatically as they mature so it's nice to have the ability to view mature plants whenever possible. Not all the plants in our garden will be mature specimens and therefore each display plant will also be marked with that specific varieties
mature growth height and spread. This will provide you with an idea of what
size the plant will eventually become when it matures. Regretfully, not all varieties on display are available to purchase so we update our display signs regularly to provide availability information for each variety. Once you have viewed the display gardens you can make your way to the shade-houses were we have our available varieties (over 1100 varieties in 2012) displayed in groupings by mature size and then alphabetically within that size grouping. As well as hostas we have a wide selection of other perennials to choose from and they are located down the centre of each shade-house.

| Growing Great Hostas! Our propagation houses are open to the public. It is in the propagation houses that we look after the many hundreds of varieties of hostas we offer for sale. Some of these hostas are divisions from our display garden and others are tissue culture stock that we bring in from top hybridizers across North America. We pride ourselves on selling very good-sized stock at reasonable prices. Our aim is to provide you with a hosta that will look good in your garden immediately. New Hosta introductions There are times when our customers/collectors demand the newest and most up-to-date varieties of hostas. Most new varieties are introduced in the U.S.A. and usually do not appear in Canada until years after their initial introduction. Hosta Choice Gardens wants to change this imbalance. We endeavour to keep in touch with leading hybridizers and get new introductions into the Canadian marketplace as soon as possible. Gardeners/collectors are welcome to purchase new varieties when we receive them from the hybridizers however, must realize that the plants will be immature and may require more “potted-up” time before being placed into their garden. In our inventory list you will note "dates of expected release". Hosta cultivars with this note (to the right of their descriptions), have or will be shortly, received by our nursery. The release date is the date we feel they will be ready for the market place and shipping. Any request to ship earlier is at the purchasers sole risk.
